Beagle is an ancient breed of hounds that, thanks to their excellent scent and hunting behavior, have earned love and popularity in many countries of the world.
Now these four-legged animals rarely fulfill their original functions, but they are excellent domestic companions.
The ancient progenitors of modern beagles were bred in the days of Ancient Greece. Hunters of those times appreciated these dogs not only for their great speed, but also for their excellent sense of smell.
The breed was so popular that it even survived the fall of the ancient civilization of the Greeks and found new owners in the person of the ancient Romans. It was they who, at the time of their conquests, brought the first beagles to the territory of today's Great Britain. There, these dogs began to be mixed with local breeds, and by the 18th century, two breeds of hunting dogs were approved in England: the southern hound and the northern beagle.
The best gift for a beagle lover will be a handmade miniature figurine of this dog made of colored glass!
